This piece is a contemporary piece that speaks about our cultural identities and ways that heals us. I created this contemporary piece with a realism design of a turtle. The turtle and the path are the focal point of this piece with my dots being the background of the piece. I created this piece to speak about our cultural identities. Our identity is an important aspect of who we are. But the culture behind who we are and our traditions are what speaks to us and our connection to our ancestors. We often forget that these hold our traditions and a big piece of our identity. At times we loose that part of us or it’s taken from us. But building that deep connection and relationship to culture is important. A key factor is no one can speak over your cultural identity except you and the people that share that with you. Through tough times a deep connection to heal, is to be connected to our land. Letting the land hear us and our pain and loss is what helps us build a deep connection. But also we all have our journeys to our culture learning and absorbing it all in. It takes years but the people you need are always around the corner of your path. The detail where the turtle travels through shows the deep connections, our different identities, our people and most of all us. We see ourselves in all the things around us. You’ll never get lost you only can find more of you.
