"Journey to self-development"

This is a series I have based around the topic of self-discovery. This is an important journey that many of us find ourselves on. Whether that be earlier on in your life or later in life. But it is an important period where we take the time to find who we are authentically without masking ourselves for other people. We often find ourselves falling into the trap of being a type of person for other people. This journey has many layers to it. It could be figuring out our passions, hobbies, sexuality, gender and things that fuel our passions about one’s identity. With that the series provokes that out of the audience. By looking into this series, you see that through symbol work, intricate details, colours and even the familiar faces of these creatures. With that I use bold colours to identify each bold choice we make for ourselves and small detail work to show each changing moment and perspective of life. I wanted to combine that with cool tones of the blue dots to make sure the audience feels safe whilst looking at the series. You can also see through the series I have small, medium and large pieces. But more specifically the difference between the smaller and larger pieces. That the smaller pieces detail focuses on the detail work whilst the larger works focuses on combining detail and realism of the animals. The reason for that is you can see the smaller works for the layers, traditional symbols and the detail. With this series I heavily relied on intuition focused art. I for the first time in a while allowed what was to be created in the present moment. I didn’t want to sketch anything because it’s a part of the story telling. How on the self-discovery journey you don’t plan ahead you just rely on what’s happening in the moment. It was a way I could connect with the story telling of this series through a means of spirituality a sense of being in the moment through the challenges presently.

Thanks for joining me on my journey!

I love how personal art can be and I particularly enjoy  creating pieces that hold significance to an individual or that they can use in their everyday life. If you would like to discuss a commissioned work please enquire here.
